An airspace violation just happens near Air Force One in Seattle that was scrambled military fighter to respond this accident. On Tuesday afternoon, residents throughout Western Washington were scared of sonic booms from an aircraft violation.
John Cornelio, The spokesman of North American Aerospace Defense told media that the F15 jets rattled the Washington area as they took off. This jet was sent from Portland that accelerates to supersonic speed minutes after takeoff. They still remained in this pattern awaiting further guidance.
Colonel Michael Stencel, commander of the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing said, “They were given an immediate right hand turn, unlike a normal departure along the river to avoid noise abatement and everything so that we don’t upset the local community. In a situation like today it’s full afterburner with an immediate right hand turn heading north with the fastest response possible.”
A passenger witnessed the jets between the Seattle area and the mountains. “We just landed, sailed in here, nice and peaceful, pulled up to the dock and a guy came out and said I have some bad news for you guys,” said Laura Joseph, passenger of pilot, Lee Dailey. “Obama is in town and you guys violated the air space or something.” They just come in from weekend.
Joseph adds, “I saw a jet, just a white jet going by. I thought it was kind of odd to see a military jet.” He reported that the jets only passed by the plane once and didn’t make any sonic booms.
